This guitar belonged to Johnny Depp’s personal collection for over 20 years.
The «Hollywood» resonator guitars were manufactured between 1931 and 1937 in Los Angeles, California, by the Schireson brothers. They developed a guitar amplification system using a metal cone that projects the sound outward, increasing volume and attempting to compete with other instruments of the time. Production of these instruments ended in 1937 after a series of legal disputes between the Schiresons and the National resonator company over the similarity of their resonator cone design patents.
During the factory’s brief period of operation, it is estimated that no more than 30 units were completed. All feature different floral designs on the cone and fretboard and are easily recognizable by their «H»-shaped soundhole.
This guitar is treasured at La Roca Power Studio.
