Pensa basses are premium-quality instruments handcrafted in New York’s SoHo neighborhood by Rudy Pensa and John Suhr. This concept combines the style of classics like the Fender Jazz Bass with modern features such as semi-hollow bodies for reduced weight, built-in preamps, and Nordstrand pickups.
This particular model features a black korina hollow body and a rosewood top with binding. The neck is maple, and the fretboard is ziricote, also with binding, equipped with Dunlop 6105 frets, lollipop peg heads Hipshot tuners, and a Hipshot A-Style bridge.
The electronics are Nordstrand Big Split 5 pickups with individual volume controls. A push/pull system allows switching between active and passive modes, as well as changing the pickup phase from series to parallel. In active mode, the circuit provides a bass boost and treble boost/cut.
