This Gibson Les Paul Standard belonged to Norberto Aníbal Napolitano, also known as “Pappo,” an undisputed legend of Argentine rock, who used it during the final years of his career.
Pappo was one of the most influential musicians, guitarists, singers, and songwriters in Argentine music, as well as one of the pioneers of Argentine rock.
He wasn’t just a guitarist: Pappo was a pioneer. He paved the way in Argentina for electric blues, heavy metal, and hard rock, becoming an absolute reference point for musicians and audiences alike. The specialized press hailed him as the best guitarist in the history of Argentine rock, while B.B. King recognized him as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
This guitar was manufactured in 1989 and bears an inscription stating “NOT FOR RESALE,” as it was intended for artists and endorsers of the brand, not for resale. It features a Bill Lawrence pickup in the neck position and a Gibson «The Original» pickup without its cover in the bridge position. The tuning pegs have been replaced with Grover ones, and one of the tone knobs is broken, a testament to its history on stages and in studios.
