Gibson Flying V Melody Maker

The Gibson Flying V Melody Maker (released in 2011) is a stripped-down, minimalist, and lightweight version of the iconic Flying V, designed to offer American-made quality at an accessible price.

It features a maple body, thinner and more compact than the standard model, and uses different woods than the mahogany or korina typically found on other Flying V models. Its neck is made of thin-profile mahogany, and its fretboard is made of baked maple, which removes excess moisture from the wood and gives it a rosewood-like appearance. The most noticeable difference from other Flying V models is its redesigned headstock. It has a wraparound bridge and a Gibson 491T ceramic magnet pickup with a single volume control and vintage-style tuners with plastic buttons.
