Launched in 1958 to appeal to professional jazz guitarists, the Jazzmaster became a favorite of surf bands in the 1960s and alternative rock in the 1990s. Its offset design, with an alder body, was conceived for greater comfort while playing seated. The narrow C-profile maple neck is complemented by a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, adorned with clay inlays.
Equipped with a floating tremolo with a locking system, it offers great expressive versatility. Its two single-coil pickups work in conjunction with an innovative dual-circuit control system: the classic set of volume and tone potentiometers, or the control wheels activated by the on/off switch located above the neck pickup.
